Idaho Falls Power respectfully requests authorization to advertise to receive bids to upgrade the cooling system in the server room in the control building. The current system has been unreliable in recent years. With the additional equipment placed in the room since the original cooling system was installed more than 20 years ago, the need for reliable cooling has increased. Changes in scope on the SCADA upgrade project resulted in savings that will be redirected for this improvement. Ordinance Amending Title 1, Chapter 1 - Official City Code: The Town of Eagle Rock, Idaho was established by Order on July 8, 1889. The name of the City was changed to Idaho Falls, Idaho on August 26, 1891, following an election held at Eagle Rock, Idaho on July 22, 1891. Because of the historical importance of these two foundation documents, and for ease of reference which would be created by including such Orders into the Idaho Falls City Code, the City Attorney Office recommends consideration and adoption of the draft Ordinance Amending Title 1, Chapter 1. ACTION: To approve the Ordinance under the suspension of the rules requiring three complete and separate readings and that it be read by title and published by summary {or consider the Ordinance on the first reading and that it be read by title, or reject the Ordinance).
Public Works Division: 1. Idaho Transportation Department State/Local Agreement - School Vicinity ADA Ramps, Idaho Falls: Attached is a State/Local Agreement with the Idaho Transportation Department and accompanying Resolution with respect to the School Vicinity ADA Ramps Project. This Agreement is proposed to replace the previous agreement that was executed on March 27, 2014. The Idaho Transportation Department has elected to modify the agreement language to match other federal aid programs. The proposed agreement requires City financial or in-kind contribution towards the entire project at a match rate of 7.34% for an estimated total of $21,433.00. This agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney. Public Works recommends adoption of the Resolution, approval of this Agreement; and authorization for the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the necessary documents. ACTION: To adopt the Resolution approving the State/Local Agreement with the Idaho Transportation Department with respect to the School Vicinity AA Ramps Project, and give authorization for the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the necessary documents (or take other action deemed appropriate).
Approve Hydro Mechanic Apprenticeship Program: Idaho Falls Power has an existing Apprenticeship Standards Program in place with the Department of Labor that has historically covered Lineman and Meter Technician occupations. Staff has developed an apprenticeship program for Hydro Mechanics in preparation for the anticipated retirements in this craft in the coming years. In developing the program, we have coordinated with IBEW Local No. 57 and other hydropower operators in the region. The apprenticeship program maps out work hours and training curriculum required to be completed to advance through the program, see attached. Also attached is a proposed addendum to the Apprenticeship Standards that Idaho Falls Power has in place with the Department of Labor. Idaho Falls Power respectfully requests that City Council approve the Hydro Mechanic Apprenticeship Program and authorize staff to amend the Apprenticeship Standards to reflect the program. The City Attorney has reviewed the agreement. Staff respectfully requests that City Council approve the agreement and authorize the Mayor to execute the document.
